SALADO, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety said a 21-year-old man was struck by a car in Salado while attempting to divert traffic around his vehicle during heavy fog.
According to DPS, Troopers responded to a major crash on IH-35 SB at 2:30 a.m. approximately 2 miles south of the City of Salado.
A disabled 18-wheeler was partially blocking the inside lane due to a minor crash.
The driver of the truck, a 21 year old male from San Antonio, was outside of his vehicle attempting to divert oncoming traffic.
DPS says another car was heading southbound on IH-35 and had impaired visibility due to heavy fog in the area.
The car collided with the disabled vehicle as well as the driver of the 18-wheeler.
He was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital for injuries.
DPS says the crash investigation is active and open.
"Texas DPS would like to remind drivers to reduce speed, have headlamps on low beam, and increase the traveling distance between you and the vehicle in front of you when driving in inclement weather."
