Man leads Killeen police on short chase before shooting himself

KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Police say they were responding to a domestic disturbance, which led to a chase, before the suspect died by suicide.

On Feb. 10, at approximately 9:21 PM, officers were dispatched to Deek Dr. in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.

The woman advised that her husband was armed with a handgun and had discharged the firearm in an unknown direction during the disturbance.

The victim further advised she had locked the door to the residence and her husband had departed prior to officer’s arrival.

Later when officers arrived and while speaking with the woman the husband arrived back to the scene in a vehicle.

Officers attempted to make contact with the husband, who fled in the vehicle from officers.

A short low speed pursuit ensued where he pulled into an address on Gus Dr. Prior to officers making contact with him, he shot himself in the head.

He was transported to Scott and White Hospital in Temple where he succumbed to his injuries.
