Man arrested for attempting to rob Walmart, pulling gun on employee

HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — A man was arrested for attempting to rob Walmart in Harker Heights.

Police said that on Jan. 10, they responded to a robbery at Walmart in the 2000 block of Heights Dr. Officers arrived at Walmart and located, disarmed and arrested Matthew Pauu-Talaga.

According to Walmart employees, Pauu-Talaga was taking merchandise belonging to Walmart without paying. He was approached by Walmart employees during the incident.

Pauu-Talaga then pulled a gun from his pocket and pointed the weapon at a Walmart employee. Pauu-Talaga ran into the parking lot and was hiding behind vehicles, while making his way towards the gas station on the east side of the parking lot. He was located by officers from the Harker Heights Police Department.

Pauu-Talaga is in the Bell County Jail with a bond set at $100,000.
