KILLEEN, TX — A woman has been taken into custody after a six-hour standoff with authorities Wednesday.
The Killeen Police Department says around 8:47 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Estelle Avenue in Killeen regarding a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they were told a female resident was damaging property that belong to her neighbor.
Officers attempted to speak with the woman and get her to come outside but she refused. She then made threats to shoot the officers on scene and the neighbor.
The Killeen Tactical Response Team was activated. Authorities were in communication with the woman on and off via cellphone throughout the day.
After the woman stopped communicating, officers used tear gas and were able to take her into custody around 3:14 p.m.
No one was injured.
Police say several nearby residents left the area for their safety while some decided to remain inside of their homes.
Killeen PD says the investigation is ongoing.
