Experts say misuse of methamphetamine remains an extremely serious problem across the nation.

Word of Life Substance Abuse Center in Killeen offers many programs, such as group counseling sessions, to those struggling and in recovery from addiction.

Director Darryl Shaw shared the program offers addicts a place to turn to to kick their addictions.

Their residential program has 24 beds and helps addicts get clean.

"There is an assessment that is done," explained Bishop Shaw. "They either get refereed to clinical or they come directly to our facility, which deals with individual counseling, group therapy. Some need medical detox, so if that happens, then there's another agency that they're connected to. Once that five or six day process is over with, then they come back for group counseling and individual counseling, residential or outpatient."

The cost of the residential program at Word of Life is about $2,500 for 14 weeks, while the outpatient program costs about $1,200 for 14 weeks.
