KILLEEN, TX — A family's car was shot up in Killeen, leaving them without a vehicle.

The Killeen mother stepped outside to find an awful sight Monday morning - her car full of bullet holes.

"About 8 o'clock I got woke up telling me that my car got shot up. At first I thought it was just a joke, and then I went outside and there was 9 bullet holes in my car, through the trunk, the tires, the driver door, in the car where [the bullets] went through the trunk and hit the car seat and the stroller," said the mother, who requested her identity remain anonymous due to safety concerns.

Though she is grateful nobody was injured, she was surprised her car was totaled.

"Insurance just basically told us the car is just totaled, and then that they were going to finish paying off the loan. That's what I heard. I don't know," said the single mother.

She said she is in need now more than ever.

"A stroller, a car seat, it doesn't matter. I'm thankful for literally anything. I'm only a single mom. I work paycheck to paycheck, so I really don't have a lot of money for another car," the 20-year-old said.

The single mother is also asking for gun violence in Killeen to stop.

"Put the guns down. Figure out a different way to handle a situation," she said.

Meanwhile, the shooting remains under investigation.

The Killeen Police Department confirmed that at 8:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to Shawn Drive in reference to a deadly conduct call on Monday.

Upon the officers' arrival, they were advised by the resident that they found the car with what appeared to have several bullet holes.

The suspect is unknown at this time.
