KILLEEN, TX — The Killeen Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Michael Cirilo.
Police said the shooting happened Wednesday around midnight in the 2200 block of Jennifer Dr.
Officers on scene said that they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived on scene, and he was transported to the hospital. He died from his injuries while at the hospital injuries becoming the first murder victim of the year in Killeen.
In 2017, there were 18 murders in Killeen. In 2018, seven people were killed, but last year there was an uptick, police said they investigated 15 murders.
