KILLEEN, TX — The Killeen Police Department will soon partner with a state agency to help fight the war on drugs.

Killeen City Council approved the proposal Tuesday evening.

According to the department, the Texas Counter Drug Task Force offered the support of two criminal analysts in 2017. During that time, crime rates had risen.

Killeen PD said that though crime rates have since come down, they still want to take advantage of any help.

“Ultimately, what crime analysts do is allow us to be more efficient with our officers. You know, there can’t be an officer everywhere all the time. Plain and simple, it just never happens. So what we use with crime analysts and intelligence is where best to put those officers,” said Commander Jeff Donohue

The two positions are funded through the state agency.
