Killeen PD investigating major crash that left two dead

KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Police are investigating after a major wreck Saturday afternoon left a 40-year-old woman and 15-year-old girl dead.

Amanda Dawn Dixon Williams, 40, and Katie Marie Burch, 15, have been identified as the deceased.

On Saturday, June 20, 2020, at approximate 3:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of State Highway 195 and FM 2484 in reference a 911 call about a major crash involving a black 2009 Dodge Ram pick-up truck and a tan 2001 Toyota Sienna van.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Toyota was stopped at a stop sign facing westbound on FM 2484 attempting to turn left onto SH 195.

According to police, the Dodge was traveling northbound on SH 195 in the inside lane approaching the intersection, when the driver of the Toyota failed to yield-right of way-stop sign to the Dodge and entered the intersection, causing the Dodge to strike the left side of the Toyota.

The Dodge was occupied by the operator and a front seat passenger and was treated on scene.

The Toyota was occupied by the driver, a front seat passenger and the back right passenger.

The front seat passenger of the Toyota was transported to Baylor Scott and White in stable condition.

The driver, Amanda Dawn Dixon Williams, 40, and the back right passenger, Katie Marie Burch, 15, of the Toyota were pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin at 4:40 p.m.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatality and information will be released as it becomes available.
