KILLEEN, TX — The Killeen Independent School District has partnered with the Texas Department of Emergency Management and the Texas Education Agency to offer free COVID-19 rapid screenings to students and employees.
The program will allow the district to test both symptomatic and asymptomatic staff ad students.
The free screenings will not be available to the general public or family members of staff or students.
Testing will begin on Thursday, December 3 at the former Nolan Middle School building, locating at 505 Jasper Drive in Killeen. Participants should use the entrance on 2nd Street.
Tests will be offered from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on regular school days.
Killeen ISD students and employees must schedule an appointment to be tested. Parents or legal guardians will need to sign a waiver for students under 18. Appointments will be made available online or by phone closer to the launch date.
Participants will have results in 15 minutes based on a nasal swab in the nostril.
If someone tests positive, they will be advised to see their primary care physician to obtain a more formal PCR (molecular) lab-based test, as instructed by TDEM.
