KILLEEN, TX — The Killeen ISD Education Foundation received a $5,000 award for entering the Raise Your Hand for Texas Education campaign for World Teacher Day.

The Criteria for the competition was to submit a video explaining the district's participation in World Teacher Day.

World Teacher Day is observed on October 5th and recognizes the hard work of all teachers internationally.

The theme for 2020 was, "Teachers: Leading in Crisis and Reimaging the Future."

Killeen ISD and the Education Foundation celebrated by providing all 52 campuses a strip of blue #TeachersCan ribbon to post around schools.

Students and staff wrote words of affirmation and encouragement to their teachers. Many campuses still have the ribbons and words of encouragement on display.

“We‘re proud of our teachers for adjusting their instruction and delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were strong, adaptive and focused while providing the best teaching possible. This honor truly proves the stamina and resilience of our KISD teachers and staff,” said Director for Grants and Education Foundation, Joyce Hodson.
