HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — A Killeen native is doing what she can to inspire others to follow their dreams.

In just a few short days, Monica Hall will leave Salon Magnashear in Harker Heights and head out to New York Fashion Week.

Growing up in Killeen, Hall discovered her passion for fashion at a very young age.

"From the time I was a little girl, just like most girls, they play with their dolls, their Barbies. I moved over into like you know my neighbors, and from the time I was just a little girl, wanted to do everybody's hair and makeup," said Hall.

She has displayed her skills at New York Fashion Week for the last three years.

"It's a crazy scene back there," said Hall. "So there's nail people that are painting people's nails. There are people of course. We're doing hair and we have to see what the designer, each designer wants a different look for their fashion," said Hall.

She returns this year to work side by side celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, another Killeen native.

"I'm so glad that she's able to come to New York Fashion Week to be with us. When Monica does hair on a model, before she gets on to the runway, I don't have to worry about it," said Gibson.

The two agreed, Fashion Week takes the profession to a whole new level.

"It's something awesome. Being able to see Angel Brinks, and you know Cardi B's stylist and working with Carmen Marc Valvo. He did Vanessa Williams' dress. Just blew my mind, so just being able to see all the designers, it's amazing experience," said Hall.

She hopes her story will motivate others to pursue their passions.

"Doesn't matter where you're from. It's the hard work that you do behind the scenes. Never let anyone tell you that it can't be done," said Hall.
