Killeen City Council to hold public meeting over budget

KILLEEN, Texas — The City Council in Killeen will hold a public meeting on Tuesday evening where residents can voice any concerns over the proposed 2020 fiscal year budget and property tax rate.

The city is proposing an $86.6 million dollar operating budget which is balanced and requires no tax or utility rate increase. This general fund is part of the overall operating budget totaling $209.4 million dollars.

Council members are also proposing to keep the property tax rate at 74.98 cents per 100 dollars of taxable value assessed.

The proposed budget covers the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2019 and ending September 30, 2020.

The meeting will be held at City Hall at 5 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
