HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — Harker Heights VFW Post 3892 held a ceremony Sunday honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect our country.
“We can never forget the sacrifices the veterans of this great nation have made ever,” said James Nier, former VFW National Commander-in-Chief.
The Harker Heights VFW Post 3892 has hosted this ceremony for years. The memory of soldiers lost in combat is something they work to keep well preserved throughout the entire year, not just on Memorial Day weekend.
Dozens of people were present during the ceremony. They also work to include children so that they learn the valuable lessons Memorial Day teaches.
“The VFW as a whole does many youth programs throughout the year to educate youth on events, such as Memorial Day and other events throughout the year,” said Daryl Foss, VFW Post 3982.
This Memorial Day Weekend, our nation binds together to ensure that none of these patriots are forgotten. There are a number of Memorial Day events occuring throughout Central Texas. A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Harker Heights on Monday at 10 a.m.
