Harker Heights police arrest man for murder at Club Krush

HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — Harker Heights Police have arrested a man for a murder at Club Kush on March 15.

Cleve Dantron Marcel Franklin was taken into custody in Austin, TX at approximately 11:55AM, 3/18/2020 in reference to a Warrant for Murder.

Franklin was transported to Bell County Jail from Travis County where he remains in custody. Franklin was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman with a bond set at $1,000,000.00.

Officers were dispatched to Club Krush located at 201 W. Veterans Memorial Blvd around 3:27 a.m. on March 15 in reference to a shooting with reported injuries.

On arrival, Harker Heights Police Officers located the victim.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Michael Anthony Hackney, Jr., of Killeen, Texas.

Both security officers for the club and Harker Heights Police performed CPR on the victim, according to police.

Harker Heights Fire Department EMS arrived on location and transported the victim to Scott & White Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

While at the scene, officers learned of a second shooting victim who was being treated for nonlife threatening injuries at Darnell Army Medical Hospital.

Witnesses indicated the incident started as a verbal argument escalating to a fight and then to the shooting.

The suspect was described as a black male between 5’4” – 5’9” who fled the scene in a black or dark gray Dodge Charger.
