Harker Heights man charged for murder after deadly shooting

HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — Willis Everett Washington, II was taken into custody in Copperas Cove, TX on April 7, 2020 at approximately 11:29 a.m. related to a death investigation.

Washington was transported to Bell County Jail from Copperas Cove and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke, charged with tampering with evidence and bond set at $500,000.00

On April 9, 2020, Harker Heights Police Department obtained a Warrant for Murder for Willis Everett Washington, II related to the death investigation from April 7, 2020 in the 800 block of Trail Crest.

Washington was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman with a bond set at $1,000,000.00 and remains in the Bell County Jail.

On April 7, 2020, at approximately 2:59 am, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Trail Crest related to a gunshot victim.

On arrival, Harker Heights Police Officers located a 47 year old Latonya Washington deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a domestic disturbance at the resident had taken place earlier in the evening.

Investigation is ongoing by the Harker Heights Police Criminal Investigation Division.
