TEMPLE, TX — Police responded to a dog attack at Jones Park in Temple Wednesday morning that sent two men to the hospital.

When officers arrived at the park at 7:50 a.m., a man was being attacked by two dogs with another dog nearby. Another male was on the ground and "suffering from dog bites," according to police.

The dogs owner was there and could not get the dogs to stop. An officer fired a shot at one of the dogs that struck and killed the dog. Then, the other two dogs ran off.

The owner was able to then get control of the two dogs to secure them until Animal Services could come and take possession of the dogs.

Both victims had extensive bites and injuries, say police. They were transported to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple.

Officials say potential charges against the dogs' owner are still pending.
