KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Police returned to the area where missing Fort Hood soldier Gregory Morales' skeletal remains were found to remove "unidentified remains."
Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Florence Rd in reference to an area check around 1:33pm, according to Killeen Police Officer Ofelia Miramontez.
This is near the same area that Morales' skeletal remains were found.
Upon the officers arrival, they were advised by witnesses that were in the area that they had located some kind of unidentified remains.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit arrived on scene and removed the remains, Miramontez said.
The remains will be sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas to determine if they are human or animal.
While it is unknown at this time if the two are connected, a memorial for Morales was set up today in the same area.
Gregory's brother also told 25 News that detectives were at the field where Morales' remains were found after possible evidence was located.
