BELL COUNTY, TX — A team is working to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Bell County.

Angenet Wilkerson says when the COVID-19 pandemic began, she immediately became concerned about how the virus would impact those in need.

It led her and a group of friends to create the COVID-19 Community Task Force for the Bell County area.

Their mission is to insure testing, engage, educate and equip community members with the tools they need to battle the virus.

"It's just important for us to be a community, to be neighborly and if we want it to stop, the spread of COVID, we need to work together," said Wilkerson.

On Saturday, the task force visited neighborhoods across Bell County to assist people who need support to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The group handed out "Rona Bags" filled with sanitizer, thermometers, masks, soap and more to people in areas where not everyone is able to get their hands on the much needed items.

"It's great because you have a lot of people over here that can't get out and this is awesome for them," said Erma Taylor who visited with the team on Saturday,

Wilkerson says community members across the county have joined their efforts in completing monthly outreach activities.

The group's GoFundMe has already raised nearly $2,000.
