KILLEEN, TX — The City of Killeen has a new city manager but questions remain about how he plans on tackling the rising crime rate.

The Killeen City Council unanimously gave James Cagle their support Tuesday night, but Cagle has a lot of work to do to turn things around.

The city is plagued with violence and crime. 25 News asked him how he planned to tackle the issues affecting residents.

"As the city manager, I think I bring a fresh look at everything, and I like to ask questions and get input from a lot of people and get perspectives," he said,

Mayor Jose Segarra said Cagle has exactly what they are looking for to help improve the City of Killeen.

"He had financial background and development, and where he came from is a booming town just like ours, so he has that experience in economic development and that is the area he is going to bring to our city," said Segarra.

With his 18 years of experience, Cagle said he has a lot of plans to impact this booming city.

"Killeen is growing, and that is going to continue, and perhaps we can make some of the new development a little better. We want to look at redevelopment too, so I look forward to working on both of those," said Cagle.

Cagle's first day on the job is December 3.
