KILLEEN, TX — City of Killeen has announced it will close the Lions Club Park Senior Center until further notice due to high COVID-19 hospitalizations in the area.
The closure will take effect Monday, January 11.
The City says no in-facility programs will be offered, however limited virtual and drive-through activities may be planned.
This comes after Trauma Service Area L, which includes Killeen, reached the state's capacity for COVID-19 hospitalizations.
The City says the closure of the senior center is "necessary to meet the new restrictions and to protect the vulnerable population served."
Senior Pickleball will continue at the Family Recreation Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants must be senior center members and must bring personal paddles and pickleballs.
