KILLEEN, TX — If you live in Killeen, you may have noticed some changes and upgrades happening around town.
The City of Killeen has been taking the time to bring the area to a place both citizens and the City can be proud of, especially the historic district downtown.
With the help of contractors and other partners, such as artists, several buildings have been built or restored. Murals and banners have also been popping up.
The City says many of the businesses downtown are able to make improvements using grant money.
"To bring their buildings back to their originality, the original features of the buildings, and to beautify the area and have a nod back to that time period of the 20s. A lot of the buildings down here are from the 20s," said Deirdre Kirk with the City of the Killeen.
The City is partnering with local artists to plan more projects while new business is bringing new options and opportunities to downtown Killeen. There will also be a weekly farmers market that will start at the end of March.
