HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — The city of Harker Heights is again warning consumers that flushable wipes are not flushable, no matter what the label says.

They said city crews are responding to an increased number of clogs in our sewer mains due to grease and wipes.

They shared a YouTube video that described the harmful effects of fats, oils and grease to sewer pipes.

"Are you giving your kitchen a work out due to the Stay Home Stay Safe directive? Or are you eating take out more in the comfort of your own home? Either way the City reminds you to NOT pour fats, oils, and grease (F.O.G.) down your sinks or toilet. F.O.G. hardens as it cools and if it gets into sewer pipes it can lead to costly repairs of your private sewer lines and the City’s sewer collection system," they said.
