KILLEEN, TX — Recycling may soon get easier for Killeen residents. The Killeen City Council is set to vote on the purchase of recycling trailers.

The push stems from a desire to give residents a cost effective, convenient way to recycle, which has proven to be helpful for other communities that do not have curbside recycling programs.

The proposed trailers aim to promote better recycling practices throughout the city, and reducing waste headed to our landfills.

According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Temple Recycling and Disposal Facility, which Killeen uses, is filling up quickly. Officials say it has just about 10 years worth of space left.

If approved, the city council will purchase three trailers, which rings up to just over $60,000.
