KILLEEN, TX — The Downtown Killeen Boys & Girls Club Bigham Unit will be moving to a new location.

Their current location has about 1,500 square feet of activity space for the youth in North Killeen. The new facility will have a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse and will be located at 704 N. Gray St.

The move is a part of their approach to do "whatever it takes" to support kids in the community.

At the Bigham Unit, the team serves nearly 500 members, and they are hoping the big move will triple those numbers.

For years, kids and staff have squeezed inside the Bigham Unit in North Killeen, only being able to cater to kids age 6 to 12.

But now the team is expanding on their desire to reach kids as they near adulthood.

Phase one of the new facility will feature a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse set for a grand opening in May.

As for phase 2? The team is working on adding a brand new gymnasium and a college and career center, expanding their outreach to youth ages 6 to 18.

They expect to have that portion of the $3 million project completed by late 2020.

If you want to get involved, they ask you save the date for their Circus Spectacular fundraising event happening at the Killeen Civic Center at 6 p.m. on April 23.
