The Belton Fire Department is among multiple agencies fighting the Dog Ridge brush fire south of I-14 and west of FM 1670.
The fire started around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. It is listed as zero percent contained and is 375 acres in size, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
The H.O.T. Fire Corps confirmed it responded to Bell County to assist along with the China Spring Volunteer Fire Department.
No mandatory evacuations have been ordered at this time, but the fire is reportedly getting closer to structures in the area. The Eastbound feeder road is closed in the area.
"Please avoid the area if possible," said the fire department. "We will have more information when it is available."
