BELTON, TX — A single father is looking for help this Christmas.
Marty Mendoza said his son, Marty Mendoza, Jr., is 33-years-old and has severe nonverbal autism.
Since his son has seizures regularly, Marty said he is unable to work and the two live on a fixed income.
Marty recently got an idea that would make his son's Christmas.
While watching a Christmas movie, Marty said it hurt seeing the kids in the movie having a fun Christmas knowing he can not provide a special holiday for his son.
Marty decided to ask friends in a "Kids With Special Needs" Facebook group to send Christmas cards to his son. In the Facebook post, Marty said the cards would really make his son's Christmas.
Within 24 hours, Marty received hundreds of messages and friend requests. The Belton Police Department dropped of a teddy bear and a gift card. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Fish and Game Warden gave them a cooler full of food.
During an interview with 25 News, Marty and Marty Jr. received a distillery from Amazon and a pizza.
