A Bell County corrections officer has been arrested for alleged excessive force against a Bell County Jail inmate.

On December 28, 2020, a case was reported involving Clinton Stoval, a corrections officer with the Bell County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities say the case stems from a complaint of excessive force against an inmate incarcerated in the Bell County Jail.

At the time of the complaint, Stoval was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Bell County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigations Division along with the Texas Rangers investigated the incident.

After the investigation was complete, the case was sent to the Bell County Attorney's Office for review.

The Attorney's Office accepted the case and handed down a complaint for the charge of assault bodily injury.

The warrant was issued on January 7, 2021. Stoval reported to the sheriff's department Thursday afternoon to meet with investigators and was taken into custody without incident.

The sheriff's department says Stoval has been separated from employment with the Bell County Sheriff's Department effective immediately.
