TEMPLE, TX — Friends and loved ones gathered in Temple to honor those lost in a deadly shooting last year.

Balloons were released at Jay Cee Park in Temple to remember the lives of Cody Cornell and Robert Pellerin III.

A man shot and killed both of them inside an O'Reillys Auto Parts store in Temple in March 2018.

Both Cornell and Pellerin worked at the store.

Loved ones say the balloons are a way to reach out to them in heaven and show them that they are not forgotten.

“Him and cody both, this goes out to both of them and from the family and from the heart on us from the love for them. We want to show our respect for it, today is the one year today,” said Terry Wooley, a friend of the victims.

Cornell and Pellerin were shot and killed by a man that had just robbed a NAPA Auto Parts store before going to O'Reillys.

Most of the balloons were plain colored but two of them read, you are special.
