Autopsy reveals Killeen woman found dead in hotel was murdered

KILLEEN, TX — Killeen police are investigating a murder that occurred in June. It has recently been ruled a murder.

Police said on June 3 at approximately 10:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Days Inn at 1602 E. Central Texas Expressway in reference to a victim not breathing.

Officers performed life saving measures until paramedics arrived. Chelsea Cheatham, 32, was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m. by a Justice of the Peace.

The JP ordered an autopsy at the Southern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

At the time of the incident, it was unknown if her death was by natural caused and an investigation was initiated.

Detectives have recently received the results of the autopsy and it was determined the manner of death was ruled a murder.
