KILLEEN, TX — An artist from California has painted a mural in Killeen in honor of slain Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen.

The mural, painted by Cherine Mendoza, is located at the Sick Made Tattoo Parlor on Fort Hood St.

The tattoo shop said that Vanessa had gotten a tattoo at their location in the past, so that made the mural even more meaningful.

According to the owner, he was approached to create mural to remember Vanessa by LULAC last week.

“I just want tell everybody that she will always be remembered, and she’ll always be up. I will make sure of it. She’ll always look beautiful here, here at this corner of east gate,” said Sergio Palomino, Owner of Sick Made Tattoo Parlor.

One side of the mural has the image of Vanessa, and the other sides are for community members to leave messages of support.

The tattoo shop says they plan to keep the mural up forever.
