BELL COUNTY, TX — Two Bell County women are charged with injury to a child after striking a 12-year-year old girl with club-like objects on school grounds.
Officers responded to Killeen High School on June 12 regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers saw a 12-year-old girl on the ground with multiple injuries.
The girl was transported to the hospital where she told police she was attacked after getting into an argument with a classmate, and later with the classmate's mother, at Killeen Middle School.
The altercation with the classmate's mother occurred when the woman came to pick up her child from school.
Later that same day, the 12-year-old girl went up to the high school to be with friends.
While there, the girl's classmate and her mother, along with another woman claiming to be the classmate's aunt, and another adult male, arrived to the high school.
Both adult females reportedly had objects that looked like baseball bats and began to strike the young girl with the objects.
According to the affidavit, the 12-year-old girl was struck in the head, lost consciousness, and woke up to find she was still being hit while on the ground.
According to police, surveillance footage shows the classmate and three adults arriving to the high school in an SUV and then approaching the 12-year-old girl with club-like objects in their hands.
Police say an eyewitness was shown a lineup including the suspect, and the suspect was positively identified as one of the people striking the 12-year-old girl.
The classmate's mother is identified as Chonda Chere Edmond. Edmond is being charged with intentional bodily injury to a child.
The woman claiming to be the classmate's aunt is identified as Kyhirah Yasmin Clemons. Clemons is also charged with injury to a child.
The suspects are being held in Bell County jail each on a $100,000 bond.
