Heather Healy is excited to be back in her home state, joining the KXXV family as a Multimedia Journalist. In April 2024, Heather joined the Good Morning Texas team as their Neighborhood Reporter.
Heather was born right outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but “born over Texas soil” thanks to the help of her grandparents in Lubbock, a Ziplock bag full of soil and the clever thinking of doctors and nurses before her arrival. Six weeks later, her family moved to the DFW area where she grew up, graduating from Carroll Senior High School in Southlake (Go Dragons!), then went on to study journalism at The University of Oklahoma.
The summer before her senior year at OU, Heather interned at ESPN in Bristol, CT, where she learned, worked and interacted with professional sports athletes and journalists that fueled her passion even more for the industry. After graduating in 2015, she started her professional career as a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter at KFDM in Beaumont, TX, covering local, college and national sports for over three years. She also had the opportunity to cover Hurricane Harvey in 2017, which sparked her interest in news.
In April 2020, Heather moved to Champaign, IL, to become a Morning News Anchor. She loved starting the community’s day with what they needed to know before heading out the door. She also loved how news connected her to the community, telling stories in a refreshing new way! After a year of being in the Midwest cold, she was ready to head back south.
In 2021, Heather had the opportunity to become a Lifestyle Show Host and a Sideline Reporter for high school football in Mobile, AL. She spent just shy of two years hosting a half-hour show every day, sideline reporting during football season and being a commentator for Mardi Gras parades (fun fact: Mobile is the birthplace of Mardi Gras!).
She’s so excited to be back in her home state, ready to serve the Central Texas community! In her free time, Heather loves to bake (she’s known for her banana pudding), keeping up with all things college football and is an avid online shopper.
