COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS — Lights, camera, selfie!
In an effort to snap the perfect selfie or themed photo, pop-up selfie museums are gaining popularity across the country, with a brand new one standing out right here at home.
The pandemic isn't stopping snappers from clinging to the new fun and aesthetic sets.
Instaland BCS invited 25 News out to their soft opening Sunday for an exclusive first look
We all take 'selfies,' but at Instaland BCS they are actually encouraged.
In the midst of a pandemic, Instaland BCS offers a safe opportunity to step into a world of wonder while snapping an unlimited number of pictures in a 20-minute window.
"You are using your own camera and your own phone to take your own pictures. There's really no reason to touch anybody or anything," Randa Carraba, an event attendee said in relation to safety measures and the contact free participation the event offers.
"We wanted to create a space like that in Bryan College Station that could be an escape away from the craziness that is happening out there and take a moment to enjoy yourselves again and just leave all the stresses at the door," Ashley Siegert, Owner and Creative Director of Instaland BCS said.
The event is equipped with hand sanitizer and masks are required while you are not actively posing. Owner and Creator of Instaland BCS says this new way of expressing yourself with friends or loved ones is a unique outlet to find a little joy during a dark time.
Following COVID-19 protocols, the event's six selfie stations are spaced out to provide a safe snapping experience, but shooting and showcasing smiles isn't just fun and games, the community is also benefiting.
"They asked us to come in and install this backdrop. Supporting local businesses and it's a great way to partner with Vacanva and Instaland BCS to do this fun project," Georgia Monroe, Owner of Basecamp Farms said.
Monroe, a local flower farmer is using her recycled dried flowers for one of the unique selfie sets and gaining brand exposure for her small business in the process.
"It's huge for us, because every little bit does help especially with exposure as we go into the busy season. So our busy season for our farm is the in spring," Monroe added.
Another Brazos Valley resident and Instagram enthusiast is Randa Carrabba.
Carrabba is a social media influencer and business owner.
Carrabba was Instaland's first visitor during their soft opening Sunday and is thrilled that what normally is a big city offering has made it's way to College Station.
"If you have family and friends visiting in from out-of-town, it just encourages you to take pictures that are already high quality because of the fun backgrounds and wonderful lighting. Pictures make the best memories," Carrabba added.
So, if you want in on the action, you may need to get a move on it. Tickets are on sale now and spots are limited.
