The Leon County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two escaped inmates.

The Sheriff’s Office is searching for 36-year old Kevin Anthony Kahler, charged with burglary of a building, and 33-year old Kevin Webb, charged with possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest.

Authorities searched the area following their escape, near Leon County Expo at County Road 305 and the IH-45 feeder; but the suspects were believed to be gone from this area as of approximately 7:20 pm Friday, August 6.

According to LCSO, the two were assigned to work crew on Friday, August 6, and are believed to have stolen a Leon County Precinct 2 truck that they drove to Conroe with. The truck was then recovered from a store parking lot, and Conroe PD was alerted of another stolen motor vehicle in the area the same day.

Webb is suspected of the second stolen vehicle and is connected with the assault of a DPS Trooper in Neches, Texas located in Anderson County. The owner of the truck reported that a .45 caliber pistol was also inside the truck when it was stolen.

The fugitives are now facing additional charges added to their current charges in Leon County, and charges in other jurisdictions.

"The Sheriff’s Office makes no excuses for the inmates escaping and takes full responsibility for the incident," said the Leon County Sheriff's Office. "Sheriff Ellis and his staff will take the necessary steps to correct any issues found that led up to the escape."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Leon County Sheriff’s Office at (903) 536-2749. The Leon County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,500 reward for tips that lead to their arrests.
