COLLEGE STATION, TX — While it may be difficult to catch a live performance in-person right now, one Brazos County nonprofit wants to bring classical music right to local living rooms this Valentine’s weekend - with a little bit of a twist.
The Friends of Chamber Music BCSis a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting Brazos County residents to diverse and cultured live music. Currently, the organization is enjoying its 25th season of musical events.
"One of the very important features of us, is that we offer performances of world-class musicians at no cost to our community," said Elena Reece, Friends of Chamber Music artistic director.
Though the pandemic has changed how concerts are presented due to social distancing needs, the Friends of Chamber Music continues to host professional musicians through virtual concerts. During Valentine’s weekend, from Feb. 12 through Feb. 14, the Friends of Chamber Music will provide digital access to a concert recorded by the Ariel Quartet; plus, a little 'extra' entertainment.
"The musicians have recorded their performance, and, independently from that, their baking performance," Reece said. "They literally did the baking video in their own kitchen!”
The concert will also feature pre-recorded interviews with the musicians, conducted by Friends of the Chamber members.
This event will remain onlinehere to view across that limited three day period next weekend.
