COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS — KRHD is following a developing story in College Station at this hour as police are on scene in a College Station neighborhood involving a barricaded individual inside a home.
College Station police are in the area of Decatur Drive and Whispering Creek Court where officers were responding to a welfare concern and has now escalated into a barricaded subject situation.
CSPD's SWAT and Negotiation Team is presently on the scene and authorities are asking citizens to avoid the area if possible.
"We responded to a welfare concern over here in this area we do have our SWAT and our hostage negotiation team currently out on the scene attempting to make contact at this time." shared Jonathan Shugart, public information officer, CSPD.
"We do ask that you try to avoid this area if you have any concerns if you live in this area whether it's safe to leave your house or not feel free to contact the non-emergency number and they'll direct you on whether or not it's safe to leave your house."
