COLLEGE STATION, TX — Westbound University Drive East was closed earlier at Copperfield Drive, while officers worked to clear a crash scene.

The stolen red truck was located by a CSPD officer heading northbound on Texas Avenue, near Harvey Mitchell Parkway.

After backup arrived, a traffic stop was initiated near Texas and Manual at about 8:06 a.m. However, the driver failed to stop.

Officers pursued the stolen red truck northbound on Texas.

The driver clipped it's first vehicle, a red SUV, and then turned eastbound onto University.
The red SUV sustained minor damage and the driver was uninjured.

The pursuit continued eastbound until the driver drove through an opening in the median, over at the intersection with Coppercrest Drive.

The officers did not follow and immediately terminated the pursuit. A few 100 yards later, the driver hit a maroon SUV head-on at around 8:08 a.m.

The maroon SUV had one occupant (the driver), who sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to a hospital via ambulance.

The driver of the stolen truck sustained only minor injuries and fled on foot, but was captured in the adjacent parking lot.

Tyler Wayne Hannath, a 26-year-old resident of College Station, is being charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading in a Vehicle, Evading on Foot, Fail to Stop and Leave Information, Fail to Stop and Render Aid, and Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth).
