COLLEGE STATION, TX — A College Station man was arrested Saturday after a nearby walker informed officers that a sexual assault was occurring at Bee Creek Park.

Pedro Ordonez Garcia, 29, was arrested for sexual assault, according to police.

College Station Police said officers who had just finished a foot patrol were informed by a walker at about 6:15 p.m. that a sexual assault was occurring nearby.

The officers made contact with the survivor and began searching for the suspect.

The suspect was identified as Garcia, a 29-year-old resident of College Station.

According to police, the suspect was located after half an hour and was arrested for sexual assault at about 8:15 p.m.

"This assault was not committed by a complete stranger (less than 20% nationally are). While the couple had just met earlier in the day (at the park), they had spent much of the day hanging out together," College Station Police said. "To be clear: sexual assaults are NEVER the survivor’s fault."
