BRYAN, Texas — Thousands filled Central Church Wednesday as Bryan ISD teachers and faculty from all across the district showed their campus pride for the start of a new school year.
From the cheer teams to the teachers cheering, school pride was in full swing early Wednesday as Bryan ISD hosted their convocation ceremony to kick off the upcoming school year.
Superintendent Ginger Carrabine summed up this huge event in one word – unity.
“It just sent a real message that we are a family and that ‘Children First Always’ is our motto and we will continue to be grounded in everything based on our children’s needs.” Said Carrabine.
Many Bryan ISD leaders and dignitaries came together in the convocation ceremony to discuss district goals for the upcoming year. Carrabine gave a sneak peek on the excellence she expects to see in an upcoming announcement from the TEA.
“We anticipate an A+ rating for graduation, an A+ rating for college, career and military readiness, and a solid B for our student growth, we are celebrating that unofficially. [The results] will come out August 15th.
The district says a key to their excellence starts with student leaders, like the newer Ambassador Program. Schoolboard President Mark McCall says these leaders are the real influencers students need to look up to.
“It’s often times our closest peers that we look to, we can influenced by a thousand different people that we don’t even know who is [a good influence].”
One Student Ambassador says he’s honored to be in this role and more than ready to lead his peers into the new school year.
“All [of] my life I felt like I could be a good leader. I like steering people in the right direction – so I feel like being a student ambassador [that] I can steer all the students and make improvements from the district.” Said Tyson Turner - Bryan ISD Junior, and Student Ambassador.
From students to teachers – Bryan ISD officials say this year they are prepared to continue keeping children first always.
Students return Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
