Chief Jim Stewart of the Brazos County Vaccine Task Force announced all vaccination hub appointments that were scheduled Tuesday afternoon through Thursday have been pushed to February the 19th.

The rescheduling of appointments is weather related, according to Stewart.

He said they are in the process of notifying everyone who had appointments scheduled.

"The weather briefings we have received today are even more dire for the upcoming week, so the difficult decision was made to cancel operations for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday," officials said in a statement. "In the place of those three days, we will conduct a day long vaccination event on Friday with the hope of distributing a minimum of 2500 of the 3000 doses we have received. Although the area will still be experiencing low temperatures, the conditions for driving will be much improved."

The team of the Brazos County Community Vaccination Hub will begin sending out emails to reschedule appointments at the Brazos Center, and previously scheduled recipients should expect to see an updated invite within the next few days.

Staff and volunteers who are scheduled for shifts during these rescheduled times will also receive notification changes.

"This is disappointing news for all of us, but these challenges will not dissuade us from our mission of ‘getting a shot in everyone’s arm who wants one,'" the statement said.

The plans are to vaccinate 3,000 people on Friday the 19th.
