A Belton High School student has a chance to win the trip of a lifetime and it is all thanks to a photograph.

Adrianna Schlaefer is a senior at Belton High School, she recently entered the National Geographic Student Expedition Photography Contest.

"I entered five of my pictures from that trip into the contest and a couple weeks ago I got an email from the director and she said that it had been selected as a finalist," Schlaefer said.

Her photo, titled "Rocky Mountain Railway," was taken during a family vacation to Canada.

The photo, which is now up to win "People's Choice," is one of 28 final photos selected out of 5,000 that were submitted to the National Geographic photo contest.

The winner of the competition will receive a spot on the National Geographic Student Expeditions photography trip of their choice. The trip options include
photo workshops in Tanzania, Prague and Tokyo.

"There is a lot of things going on, but it's really cool, the interaction between this manmade form of transportation and nature and how they sort of symbiotically exist," Schlaefer said. "It's just one moment in time and you have to be able to freeze that moment and the memories that come along with it."
