Firefighters responded to a Waco apartment complex after heavy smoke was seen in the area on Thursday morning.
The fire department said 10 units responded to the Eastgate Apartments in the 2000 block of S. Fifth Street around 6:15 a.m.
No one was inside the apartment, but smoke escaped into other units, forcing residents out while firefighters removed the smoke.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
