A strong storm system is entering the Central Texas area Thursday night into Friday. There will also be some very windy and some very wintery weather possible during that time period.

First things first - we are not expecting a major winter storm.

With that being said, some snow may mix in with the rain Thursday evening into Friday morning near and west of I-35. There could be a complete changeover to snow in our far western areas before all is said and done Friday morning.

Some light accumulations of snow are possible on grassy surfaces in these places. Surface temperatures are expected to stay above freezing, so major travel problems aren't expected at this time.

This storm will also bring strong winds to Central Texas starting Thursday afternoon. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph are possible through Friday.

This forecast will likely change some over the next 48 hours. The track of the system may change, which could take snow completely out of the forecast or increase the potential of snow. Check back for updates.
