McLennan County Judge Ralph Strother accepted the plea deal for former Baylor fraternity president Jacob Anderson.

"Given the claims made publically, I understand why people are upset," Assitant District Attorney Hilary LaBorde said. "However, all the facts must be considered and there are many facts the public does not have."

In October, Anderson pleaded no contest to the charge of unlawful restraint, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Anderson was originally charged with sexual assault in March of 2016. Waco police said the victim was given a type of punch at a party in February, which made her become disoriented. He was accused of raping her and leaving her unconscious.

Anderson will receive a 3-year probation and will be required to pay a $400 fine. The 23-year-old will not have to register as a sex offender.

An online petition opposing the plea deal for Anderson gathered more than 45,000 signatures in one week.

"All I have to say is I'm disappointed. Our entire system failed this young woman," Vic Feazell, the victim's attorney said."In 40 years of law practice, I've never seen anything like this."
