A female pastor in Waco is about to hit the big screen.
Mary Alice Birdwhistell is the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. She's the first in a series of short documentaries highlighting the ministries of female past in Baptist churches across the U.S.
Birdwhistell started off at Calvary Baptist Church nearly 10 years ago as a children's minister when she was in seminary.
She became the pastor about a year and a half ago.
"I love Calvary, this place is my home and this community is my family," Birdwhistell said. "To get to live out my calling in this place and with this family of people has been such a gift and I'm so grateful."
In this short documentary, Birdwhistell will touch on her ministry journey and the absence of female ministry role models during her childhood.
