For the past nine months, a memorial for Navy hero Doris Miller has been in the works.
The Waco Foundation, Cooper Foundation, Baylor University and other organizations have all had a hand in funding for the project.
On Monday afternoon, Bank of America presented a grant of $11,500 toward the monument.
The memorial will honor Waco’s own United States Navy Cross recipient, Doris Miller.
"We're losing so many of our World War II veterans. I think for the ones that are still with us, it's really important for them to see something going up that still recognizes their valor," said Doreen Ravenscroft, President of the Waco Cultural Arts Fest.
The memorial is set to debut at noon on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Dec. 7.
