Bryan police arrested a man after he barricaded himself in his ex-wife's apartment.

Police said they were called to the apartment on Tuesday night around 6:45 p.m. in the 2900 block of Kent Street. The man barricaded himself after he forced his way into the apartment and assaulted his ex-wife, police said.

The woman was able to run from the situation with her two children, leaving the man inside. She suffered minor injuries and the children were not hurt, police said.

Officers made several unsuccessful attempts to contact the man but called out an emergency response unit around 9:30 p.m.

At 2 a.m., police obtained arrest and search warrants and were able to arrest the suspect, 26-year-old Joesph Powell, for felony violation of bond conditions.
