Police warn residents of increase in counterfeit money

Copperas Cove police are seeing an increase in unusual counterfeit money in the community.

According to Copperas Cove police, the counterfeit bills have red Oriental style writing on them. During an investigation, it was discovered that the counterfeit money, which was fashioned as $100, were “prop movie money.”

The counterfeit money was purchased by a subject on the internet and he claimed to have distributed the bills at various locations in the city.

He claimed that this was done as a form of entertainment, according to Copperas Cove police.

Citizens have turned in several of the counterfeit bills and a few businesses have also encountered the counterfeit money.

If anyone locates any of this counterfeit currency, they are asked to contact Copperas Cove police at (254) 547-8222.

The police department is continuing to investigate the incident.
