Twenty-seven students from local high schools were selected to participate in the 2018 Waco Police Junior Police Academy from June 11 through June 21.

Students will get the chance to visit with law enforcement from Waco Police Department, McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, Red Program, Department of Public Safety, Drug Enforcement Administration and ATF K-9.

The two-week academy will include programs like ROPES Course, SWAT Range, obstacle course and handcuffing.

According to the Waco Police Department, the academy is meant for students to work as teams and to learn about different specialties within law enforcement.
